I need help recovering access to my funds stored in a Web3Auth / Embedded Wallet.
The wallet was created through a project using social login. The project is shutting down, and the Web3Auth login option has been disabled. Because of this, I can no longer access the wallet or transfer my tokens.
Details:
Network: Solana
Wallet address:
My Web3Auth account was created using social login, and I did not have multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled.
I still have full access to the same social account that I originally used to create and access the wallet. However, I am now unable to access the wallet or transfer my tokens because the project disabled the Web3Auth login option before or during the shutdown process.
I also checked accounts page on web3auth, but it does not show any authorized applications for my account.
I was advised that this appears to be an account/wallet recovery issue rather than an Embedded Wallets SDK integration issue.
Could you please explain what recovery options are available in this situation and check whether there is any way for me to:
regain access to this wallet,
authenticate directly through Web3Auth / MetaMask Embedded Wallets,
recover or export the wallet or private key,
or otherwise transfer my funds to another Solana address?
If recovery requires the project team to temporarily restore the original Web3Auth login flow, re-enable access, or provide specific project/client configuration information, please let me know exactly what information or action I should request from them.
I still control the original social login account and can provide any non-sensitive information necessary to verify ownership of the wallet and account.
If the original project has disabled its Web3Auth login flow, you generally cannot access the wallet directly through MetaMask/Web3Auth using the social account alone.
Please contact the project team and ask them to temporarily restore the original Web3Auth login flow .
i wouldn’t want to give you the wrong recovery instructions here because this isn’t really a wallet/integration that we manage..
my advice would be, since you still have access to the original social account, i’d recommend reaching out to Web3Auth / Embedded Wallets support directly..and also the team behind the project that originally set up the wallet/integration, as they’d be the ones who can tell you what recovery options are actually available in this case..
and please be careful with anyone DMing you offering to “recover” it (we’ll never DM or email you!).. don’t share your social login/password, seed phrase, private key, auth tokens or anything sensitive with anyone ever..
@Napoleon1 can you please reach out to MetaMask. Support at https://support.metamask.io/ and scroll to the “contact us” option. Select either option for Support, and share the details for support expressing you need an agent. I will also share this with team. As shared above, just to echo, nobody will DM you or email yu directly, be careful of scammers or MetaMask Support imposters.
Following the advice of @KBeeTheCapybara, I contacted MetaMask Support with MetaMask support channel (ai chatbot), but MetaMask Support then informed me that Web3Auth is a third-party service and that they are unable to assist with this issue directly.
Unfortunately, I am unable to contact the project team. The project is shutting down, and there is currently no reliable way to get support or ask them to re-enable the Web3Auth login flow.
The tokens stored in this wallet still have financial value, so this is an urgent matter for me. I still have full access to the same social account that was originally used to create and access the wallet, and I am trying to find any possible recovery option before access is lost completely.
Could you please let me know whether there is any alternative recovery method that does not require cooperation from the project team?
If this issue needs to be handled directly by the Web3Auth / MetaMask Embedded Wallets team, could you please provide me with the appropriate contact information or direct me to the correct support channel for that team?
i actually see that you’ve already opened a topic on the Builder Hub at the same time as here, and got a response from a system account..what i would do is leave that one open for the moment and wait to see if someone from the Embedded Wallets/Web3Auth team can take a look at it directly..
sorry to say, but this is outside of what we can investigate from the MetaMask community side, especially without access to the original project’s Web3Auth configuration..also if you still have the original device/browser/profile that you used with that project, i’d keep it as it is for now and don’t clear the browser, site data or uninstall anything, just in case any locally stored data ends up being relevant to whatever recovery options there may be (cant promise there are..)
I’ll ask team @Napoleon1 . Will also share your Builder Hub post with them. Nobody will DM you or email you from Builder Hub - same rules as here - be careful of imposters!
one more thing..often when a dapp/project/platform is shutting down or as they call it being sunset, they’ll post some kind of notice beforehand explaining when this is going to happen and what users need to do before the deadline..sometimes they’ll also provide a contingency/recovery method for users who didn’t manage to withdraw or move their funds in time..so what that means for you is, go and check any old announcements, emails, docs, social media posts from the project around the time they announced the shutdown..check if there are any specific instructions for accessing or recovering the wallet after the service was discontinued (but be careful and make sure its from official account)…
btw, is the project in question Sallar ? If so, then thats not the case, they’re not shutting down but doing migration away from Web3Auth…what i also saw is they removed Discord as login (for which they offer support), but the google login is still there for web version..if you’re trying to login through app make sure you’re on the latest version..site (web version) is also mentioned on their TG and on their X account, i wont post it here for your safety, you need to do your own research..once you’re on their TG (posted on official site at the bottom and on X), check only for pinned messages and you should resolve your issue..if it helps, search for “How to access my account?” on their tg and you’ll find one result from yesterday, a mod replied directly to him and explained what to do
