Seems like metamask is forcing us to choose a gas price that causes transactions to be processed within about 30 seconds. Because Metamask is so heavily used, this may contribute significantly to the Ethereum congestion problem and, but extension, the gas price problem. Not all transactions need to be processed so fast. Those okay to wait, let them wait. Let us choose max gas prices that won’t likely get accepted for hours…
