Purchase of NFT

I am new to this whole crypto/nft thing so quite misinformed at the moment . I tried purchasing a nft at 0.002 eth . I payed $53 dollar gas fee which is ridiculous . So I’ve payed almost 4 X the price of the nft just for gas fee . I was fine with it as I really wanted it . But it has been stuck in submitted for over 12 hours which I heard is not normal and it shouldn’t take that long . I then come to see all the nfts I tried purchasing have disappeared of my transaction history and or would not submit even though I was paying gas fees that were more than the price of the nft . If someone has discord or a platform I can use to communicate with them using voice as it may be easier . Last night was very frustrating and almost made me consider taking out my investments …
