"Returned" Eth to wrong address

1: Sent Eth from Coinbase to Metamask.

2: Decide to send from Metamask back to Coinbase.

3: Check address that I received from, a logical step considering I was the initial sender.

4: Send to the address that I “received” from, assuming that it was mine.

5: Realize that I actually sent my Eth to an intermediary address.

The fact of the matter is that this shouldn’t be possible, as I was the original sender, not whatever “bridge” or intermediary it went through. I realize that I sent my Eth to the wrong address, but the margin for this error is much too large to be acceptable.

Questions -

1: Can I get my Eth back without having to file a civil suit?

2: Who does the intermediary address belong to? A person or a business?
