Well, if GPT accidentally sends it to its contract address, can it be retrieved?

You would have to contact that respective project and hope they can help you. No other way around it. You need to be very careful what you do at all times.

So the MetaMask is responsible, why is transferring it to its own contract also approved???
as the exchanges will report errors.
