Connecting to Metamask mobile on android using walletconnect slow/bad performance

Hi!
I am using walletconnect to connect to MetaMask on Android, requesting both accounts and transactions. When pairing and connecting with MetaMask i use a deeplink to navigate to the MetaMask app. Sometimes the popup in MetaMask which allows the user to accept the request for accounts/transaction takes a long time to show up, and sometimes it doesnt show up at all. Is there an error on my part, or is that how it always works/is?
If there is an error on my part, what can i do to improve performance?
