as you can see here MetaMask keeps opening a login tab every time I open Chrome - #4 by shotokhan This is a known issue. The new upcoming update 12.15.0 will fix this, here you can find the step-by-step guide to update it 
There’s also a new Chrome version you can upgrade to.
