Pig Butchering Romance Crypto Scam - Please Help!

Hi -

So I am currently involved in a Pig Butchering Romance Scam. I am still talking to the Scammer to try to recoup my $. I met “Anna” on Hinge and she walked me through on how to download Cryptodotcom and MetaMask. We even did a video call. Eventually she convinced me to take a loan and put in 25K of my money into what I thought was my wallet to trade on MetaMask under the trading platform mhtfxcrypto. I now know this is fake. She had me paste it in MetaMask to short term trade ETH.

I am still playing the role of the pig with the promise of putting in more money to see if they will let me withdraw my original money, but I am having trouble even accessing my wallet. My guess is I have no recourse unless they do it for me?

Any advice would greatly be appreciated: Here are the steps I’ve taken.

Reported to MetaMask and Cryptodotcom. Filed a report with ic3gov and emailed the Secret Service. Contacted my bank about the Scam. Anything else I can do? I was naive and stupid and things are stupid tight for me. Paying off this loan isn’t going to be easy. Should I just be resigned to fact I messed up and cut off all communication or has anyone been successful at getting any funds back from a scam?

Please continue communicating with the MetaMask team. It is best not to discuss and share this situation publicly for your safety and privacy.

Is your ticket still opened with the MetaMask team?

I think so - I’ve done what they suggested, but was wondering if the community had any other suggestions. Just accepting the funds is lost isn’t ideal.

Sorry to hear what happened and I understand the situation isn’t ideal, but it would be best to communicate with the support team on this matter. They will give you the best advice moving forward.

Ultimately it is up to you if you would like to share this situation with the community but I did unlist this topic for your privacy and safety. I can list it again if you would like or you could create another topic, but as I suggested it is best to continue communicating with the official MetaMask support team.
