Received a virus warning from a gmail account, but how the heck did they get a copy of the support email to MetaMask??
This is not the official support email, this is a fake email.
The official support email is support@metamask.io, but please also understand that this email addresses can be spoofed. See here on our Knowledge Base:

I understand that, but they literally have the exact email that i sent to the legit MetaMask support.
You do not contact MetaMask support through email, only through here https://support.metamask.io/ by clicking the Start a conversation
button
I have to say that this is very weird.
As suggested here Seed Phrase hack - #8 by nakedwinnie i went through the procedure asking for support. An emai was requested and after closing the chat box i received 2 emails, one from support@metamask.io confirming my support request, and another email from consensys asking to create a password. Is this legit?
Yes your email will requested if your support request has been escalated. If it is your first time having a support ticket then you will also receive another email asking to create a password.

thank you. activate…arbitrum…infura…should i do anything or just wait to be contacted?
Same here. Now the original emails i corresponded with to/from support@metamask.io have come back at me from a gmail address seemingly trying to phish.
Please be careful of scam emails and make sure you are interacting with the official email if you have a support ticket created for you!
That’s what i’m saying. I was legit interacting with support@metamask.io on an escalated issue. Part of that legit email correspondence was copied and sent back to me from a gmail address trying to phish me. This would suggest that the support@metamask.io account has been hacked and a gmail account is sending a phishing email from gmail to myself and probably others that have had escalated issues and have corresponded with the support@metamask.io account.
I have sent you a DM asking for a screenshot, please check it when you get the chance.
The only screen shot i still have was the one posted. I deleted the original email with support@metamask.io weeks ago after we figured out the problem was the XCN contract.
I see, thank you and I will share this information with the team.
Looking back at your screenshot I also see that your email address is visible on it, I would suggest deleting the screenshot from your original post. Please see this post for more info:
