Rules and Safety Guidelines

  1. Be Respectful

    • No harassment, personal attacks, slurs, or toxic behavior.
    • Keep things constructive, especially during heated debates.
    • Doxxing someone, hate speech, impersonation = instant ban.

  2. No Promotion or Advertising

    • Promotion, advertising, spam, or misinformation of any kind is not a allowed.

  3. Watch out for imposters and scammers

    • Nobody from MetaMask will ever DM you.
    • The only official path is the “Contact Support” button at support.metamask.io.

  4. Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase, private keys, or personal information on the forum

    • Don’t share your SRP, private keys, email address, or any personal information. MetaMask will never ask for this — anyone who does is a scammer.

  5. Never enter your Secret Recovery Phrase on any site, form, or pop-up

    • No matter how legitimate it looks. Entering your SRP anywhere — including convincing-looking pop-ups — is one of the most common scam tactics. If something asks for you to input your SRP - stop!

  6. No Direct Messages (Private Messaging)

    • Don’t ask others to DM you.
    • Don’t DM other members.
    • The MetaMask team will never DM you — anyone claiming to be MetaMask in a DM is a scammer.

  7. Keep all conversations on the Community Forum

    • All communication on the forum must remain on the forum. No asking for any outside contact information or sharing outside contact information (phone numbers, Telegram, Discord, Twitter, etc.)

  8. No token requests, offers, or solicitation

    • Don’t ask anyone for tokens
    • Don’t offer to send tokens to a member
    • Don’t DM or ask to be DM’d for sending or receiving tokens
    • Don’t post promotions offering users tokensNo token requests, offers, or solicitation

  9. Never import a private key or seed phrase provided by someone else.

    • Any private key or seed phrase given to you by another person — regardless of the reason — should be considered compromised. Importing it gives that person full, permanent access to your wallet and any funds you send to it. No legitimate giveaway, airdrop, support agent, or community member will ever need to share one with you. If someone does, it’s a scam.

  10. Do not join WhatsApp groups, WeChat groups, Telegram channels, Discord servers, Forms, Phone, or Private Messaging claiming to offer support.

    • These are scams. MetaMask does not provide official support through any of these platforms. Scammers use them to impersonate the team, gain your trust, and steal your funds. If someone directs you to any of these channels for help, disengage immediately and report them.
    • Official MetaMask support is only available through the “Contact Support” button at support.metamask.io .

  11. Post replies in a topic that are relevant to that topic.

    • Please search for a relevant topic or create a new topic if your post would be irrelevant.

  12. Post in relevant categories

    • If you are creating a new topic, please make sure you are in the correct category

  13. No posting files/links to downloads, of any kind.

  14. We are not financial advisors, discussions around price must happen elsewhere.

  15. If you see a scammer or inappropriate comment, you can flag it with this button, just beneath the comment.

  16. For your privacy and security, you may want to consider :

    • Not using any personally identifying information for your forum name, like first names, last names, e-mail address, etc..
    • Using a unique anonymous user name specific to this forum only to help protect you from social engineering.
    • Refrain from sharing your wallet address or transaction IDs publicly. While this information is technically accessible on a block explorer, posting it in a community forum links your crypto assets to your username — making you a potential target for social engineering attacks. When asking for help, share the details of your issue without including this information; community members can still walk you through a solution.
