Token transfer runs out of gas on Optimism

I tried to transfer USDT to a multi-sig wallet from my MetaMask wallet on the Optimism network however the transaction fails with an “out of gas”-error. Unfortunately it’s not possible to manually increase the gas for Optimism transactions within MetaMask. Does anyone have a workaround for this issue?

I know this is a very basic question but to confirm, do you have ETH on OP for gas?

Yes I do have enough ETH otherwise I wouldn’t even be able to send the transaction to the blockchain.

Has this issue only happened once? It may have just been unfortunate timing with gas on Optimism at the time.

Did you choose the highest gas setting before confirming your transaction?

Unfortunately it’s not possible to set any gas settings in MetaMask when connected with the Optimism network.
