Background connection unresponsive

**Description:**I am currently facing a “Background connection unresponsive” error on my MetaMask wallet extension.

Here are my system details:

  • Platform/Browser: Google Chrome on Windows (Intel i5-9300H CPU)

  • When it happens: The wallet gives this error and becomes completely unresponsive.

I haven’t tried reinstalling the extension yet because I want to make sure I don’t lose any data or access.

Has anyone encountered this issue recently on Chrome, or does anyone know a safe way to fix it?

Hey there, sorry you’re experiencing this issue. This tends to happen more frequently on older systems, taking >10-15 seconds to be prompted by a “Background connection unresponsive” after a fresh install.

Is this the first time you’re experiencing this issue? Could you share with us your Extension version as well?
