Recently after a recent MetaMask update, adding accounts through ledger has been bugged. It only happens when trying to import the main account 1. For example, when I have 3 ledgers, all with 3 different seed phrases, when I try importing only main account 1 on all of them, it fails and only lets me import just one main account. I can add all other accounts like 2-10+ on all ledgers but for some reason, only the main account 1 is bugged and only 1 seed phrase is allowed.

It used to work before until one of MetaMask’s latest update bugged it.

Please make sure MetaMask, Ledger firmware, and the Ethereum app on each Ledger are fully up to date.

Most importantly, please don’t share your Secret Recovery Phrases or private keys with anyone. Even the MetaMask support team will never ask for that.

Yes, I always have my ledgers fully updated and the apps, as well as MetaMask. It could be a ledger update that bugged it or a recent MetaMask update.

Have a few questions for you -

  • Confirming if you are trying to add accounts from multiple hardware wallets (different devices)?

  • Did you ever previously forget the old ledger device?

  • what are the specific issues you see with account 1?
